We set out this morning to scour the hills between Sekanani Gate and Keekerok Lodge for the rhino again, before picking up our two companions at the lodge who had done the balloon safari.
We caught both the elephant and giraffe almost as soon as we left the lodge. We had seen plenty of giraffe in the area the previous day, but the elephant was a bit of a surprise.
As this was supposed to be the migration season we expected to see herds of wildebeest rather than lone animals. This one was far from the Mara River and heading in the other direction! But we had been told that the animals were confused and had crossed and recrossed the river a few times as the rains were so late.
This herd of buffalo was what we had expected to see.
