This female ostrich was one of a family of three we found out on the plain. |
This lioness is a different one to the above. We found her lying just above a small ridge out in the open. Normally they find better shade than this to sleep and relax. As she was so still I thought she might be dead at first, but her ears twitched from time to time to disturb the flies. |

We're particularly proud of this shot, as I spotted it. We were just outside the lodge when we spotted the zebra. After taking my photos I tend to look around and had noticed the zebra and some other gazelle in the area kept looking attentively to our right. Just as the driver started to pull away I had this fleeting glimpse of the leopard just sat in the grass. He didn't believe me at first and it took some time to persuade him to back up where we could all see. Apparently leopards are rarely spotted on the ground, so I feel this to be one of my better 'spots'. This photo was scanned in from one of Alison's shots as mine didn't come out too well. Alison's wasn't much better and the poor quality is primarily due to the distance the leopard was away. |
