We hadn't travelled on this leg before and so I was particularly attentive. Unfortunately the game were playing 'hide-and-seek' and I have to admit - they won!

The Impala were looking very intensely in one direction and weren't concerned at all about us. This suggested there could be predators in the vicinity, but we didn't spot any. E

! Hide! The tourists are coming!' - I took this shot of the other Land Rover as we were watching the vulture. They had fallen behind & I thought it would be good to see it with the dust trail behind. |
We'd pulled ahead again just after these photos were taken - while the others photographed the vulture. As we turned left to follow the Galana River I spotted a Rhino, which I'd been keeping watch for as we passed through their known territory. The driver had been racing to the last reported Rhino location and so it took us a bit of time to convince him I'd really spotted one. By the time we had reversed back and with all the racket we'd caused, we caught it disappearing into the bush. We didn't even have time to 'snap' him.
As they hadn't seen it the others pursued him into the bush, but failed to track him down. We tried to find the other Rhino both that evening and again the following morning, but were disappointed.

FAs the rains had been prolonged this year I was surprised the water wasn't high enough to fill the 'gorge'. |

After being cooped up for so long it was a relief to get out and stretch our legs. But what a set of legs! The drivers reported that only a few weeks earlier the water level was higher than the tree trunk behind Alison. H

As on previous trips I took this photo to compare the water levels under different conditions. H
