Crocodile Point is just downstream of Lugards Falls.
We'd heard plenty of hippos barking while we were watching the crocodiles but hadn't spotted any. We were returning to the Land Rovers when one of the drivers called us over the brow of the hill. These pictures were taken at extreme range using the x2 converter on my Sony.

F We've been here on each of our previous safaris and seen the occasional crocodile, but never as many as this year. Once you've trained your eyes in to what you're actually seeing, they appear to multiply quickly. It's a good job they're so far below us! |

EI didn't realise it until we got home but there are two fish eagles also perched on the rocks above the hippos. |

EWe were about to return to the Land Rovers - yet again, when the driver pointed out this Hippo running out of the bush. I only just managed to catch it, which was lucky as hippos rarely come out of water in the day - especially as it was so hot. He obviously couldn't wait to get in to the cooler water!
