E G Since this trip we've come to expect the birds at Aruba - so no great surprises there. However, this is the first time we've seen a pelican. Notice the gazelle on the hillside in the background - I know they're hard to see as I could only just make them out with the naked eye! |

We spotted the Coke's Hartebeest close to the Dik-dik just before we dropped down in to the Galana River course. They were a long way off and caused problems to the camera's auto-focus. I had been hopeful that we had at last spotted the Hirola - but I was disappointed again! |

The hills behind the Galana River are actually the Yatta Escarpment one of the longest lava flows in the world. H |
Dik-dik are the smallest antelope & pair for life. Single Dik-dik are rarely seen alone - they usually have their mate and perhaps a baby in tow. The surviving partner pines so much for the other that they usually die within weeks of one another. H
